Алкогольные мемуары

One of my professors recited an advice he received many years ago from his senior colleague, when he just started practicing law in a big Atlanta firm. The advice was, “When you go out for a drink with your clients or colleagues, always drink scotch and never vodka. Why? Because scotch has a distinctive smell of alcohol, so when you start talking rubbish, everybody knows that you’re drunk and nobody would judge you. But if you drink vodka, nobody can smell it. So, when you’re drunk from vodka and say something stupid, everybody thinks you’re an idiot.”

I, personally, have two problems with this statement. First, since when vodka does not smell like alcohol? Second, does this advice apply to women attorney as well?

Мне казалось, что все "тяжелые" алкогольные напитки имеют запах спирта. То ли я пью мало, то ли не те напитки...
