Lady Luck

Brother's I-130 won't but is he reopens the case he can basically move to have deportation withheld because (insert compelling reason.) I never did it via TPS but "there's no place where he could be deported" sounds compelling enough. I would get a local hardcore litigator to get him out. I've seen worse things done at least to the point where he would get a voluntary departure to a third place instead of cancellation - and then return on a visa.

I am not doing the case, just trying to watch and learn. It seems to be an interesting situation. I have also found in Kurzban that the guy was supposed to be informed upon arrest of the availability of TPS for him. I wonder, if he was actually informed.
BTW, are you going to the Washington Conference in April? I looked through the Program, and it appears to be interesting. And not as expensive as the annual one.

I very well might. Are you?

Trying to decide. This is my last chance to use a student rate and I have a place to stay in DC. Very tempting.

Why not. Who are the speakers?

I need to talk to Kate Kalmykov. I met her this last summer in Boston, and she is awsome. You know, she does EB5s for Russian clients.
They also expect pretty big figures from agencies. I recall seeing Mayorkas' name on the program.

Do they have an office in Boston too?I know the firm and I might have met Kate before.
Anyway. Where are you staying? Friends?

They might, though I am not sure. It's Ron Klasko's firm.
I am staying with friends (I hope they won't change their minds). Do you have a place to stay?

Not yet, but I haven't looked into it yet.
If your friends reconsider we could share a hotel suit if you would.

Yep, I thought about it, too. The hotel is outrageously expensive, but if we come on Thursday, the day before, and depart on Friday evening, we will need only one night. In this case, we won't have to drive to the hotel and it will be very easy to get around. Or I can ask my friends if they are willing to accommodate one extra person ;)

Wait, the website quotes $445 for students and member attorneys, for a one-day conference. Now, that's outrageous... Too much for me probably, even if good speakers are involved.

Hold on. For student members it was $245.

That was not some kind of an early bird? Did they change anything since?

Just checked it again. It is still $245 for the student members, but you're right - it's $445 for everybody else. It is kind of expensive, though I don't know how many CLE credits you may earn there. Would you consider going if you don't have to pay for the hotel?

Depends on the speakers too. I don't really need CLE since CPCS does not care about immigration and we need to obtain those through. It's sorta expensive, I agree.
I was considering rather meeting up with everyone in NY if we could pull Katie out for a coffee:)
When are you going to be in our neck of the woods?
