while you were out

Were you able not to think about work during your vacation?

How was the bus btw? Did you like? What else did you and the girls enjoy?

Bus was fine. We used it as a public transportation for three days. Crossed the Golden Gate Bridge two times - during the day and at dusk. Most of the park was closed due to the shutdown, but we still enjoyed some parts of it. Took a shuttle to Sausalito (upscale, expensive, very charming). Then, took a ferry from Sausalito back to SF, which was fun, because it was crusing around Alcatraz, and we got a close view.
Had a lunch at Rainforest Cafe.
Climbed up the Russian Hill and walked down the "crookedest street in the world" (super cool - all 235 steps). Spend half-a-day at Girardelli's Chocolate Factory and overdosed on ice cream and chocolate samples. For some reason, the kids were impressed by a "story of success of Italian immigrant who made the best chocolate in the United States."
For the last day, we rented a car and drove to the Half Moon Bay. The beach was nice and clean (surprisingly!) and there was a huge Fall festival with rides and kids entertainment in the park.

Now, guess what my kids consider to be the most remarkable venue? Rainforest Cafe.

Sounds aweseome! You were also so lucky with the weather it seems!

Funny :) Well, I told you the story about Max liking food more than anything else in Hawaii, right? He barely ate :)

The weather was great.
But, honestly, I was driving to work this morning thinking about how happy I was to be back home. California is not exactly my thing :)

You think it is about California? :) I would be exhausted after any city vacation with two kids :)

No, it is my old thing.
My first exposure to CA was LA, 12-13 years ago. And I HATED it.
San Diego is better, SF is even better (I alsmost like it). But it just does not click with me.

I understand. I had the same thing for years due to my first experience in CA that I told you about on Monday.

In fact, that would be the kind of experience that does not turn me off:) I guess, I have greater tolerance to SF (comparing to LA) because I am a big fan of hippie subculture and Woodstock spirit. Though, this is not the aspect of life I would like to explore with kids.
